What a difference vision can make. The semi desert appearance of the McKenzie Country has a beauty of its own. This is further enhanced by the kaleidoscope of colour provided when the Lupins are in flower. We should be grateful to Ester Hope, of the Grampians Station, who had the vision of Lupins flowering from Burkes Pass through to Mount Cook. Each year from the mid 1950s to the 1960s, Ester, with the help of friends, would gather seeds from the Lupins in the station homesteads garden and spread them along the roadside. When you enjoy this splash of colour, give Ester Hope a thank you prayer.
