CLAY - AIR DRYING CLAY PLUS
CLAY - AIR DRYING CLAYPLUS CLAY is natural modelling clay, which dries in the air and achieves high hardness & strength similar to ceramic ware. Its high plasticity is great for modelling. It is very clean and does not smell - very important advantages for schools and handcraft workshops. Once the object is dried it can be coloured or glazed.
HANDLING
Very clean.
Before working with the natural air hardening PLUS it is advisable to knead thoroughly.
PLUS should not crack whilst working with it. If this does happen it is due to it being too dry.
Working with wet hands will moisten PLUS, giving it the right consistency and at the same time making it easier to use.
PLUS can be modelled easily with the hands and then spatulas and other tools can be used if desired. Alternatively PLUS can be put into a mould.
PLUS is very versatile; objects with very thin surfaces can be modelled or solid objects can be made.
Either solid or soft supporting moulds can be used to make hollow objects.
STORAGE
Once the packet has been opened, wrap the PLUS that is not being used in plastic.
As long as the PLUS is kept wet it can be used over and over again by wrapping it in a wet cloth.
When not working on the PLUS object, cover it with plastic.
DRYING
When the object is finished, leave to dry in the open air. Maximum strength is achieved after 10 - 15 days left to dry this way.
This process can be safely speeded up by placing the object near a radiator or by using a hair dryer. Drying time is then reduced to a few hours.
COLOURING AND GLAZING
Once the object is dry it can be coloured with any type of paint or coloured crayon. It can also be glazed. Because PLUS is not very porous only one coat of paint is necessary to produce a good colour.

Step Four Press, roll out and smooth the reinforcing coils. |
Step Five Form small balls of clay, model the flower and stick to the lid. |
