About Us and Returns Policy

Golding Handcrafts began in 1969 when my parents, Dianne and Les Dyne, opened a craft and teaching studio in Tory St, Wellington. I remember playing and growing up amongst cane which was all the rage at the time...

We then moved to Cuba St where my sister and I spent many school holidays in an upstairs room playing endless games of monopoly which would last weeks. I also learnt to ride a bike in the car park at the back of the shop and gradually learnt more of the business.

A sweet shop (The Sweet Place) followed in Cubacade where my fondness for the art of cake decorating was awakened. This wonderful shop with the candy canes outside ran for many years until the building was redeveloped and we had to leave.

Opening Golding Handcrafts in Lambton Quay was a big personal jump plus a return to history as the Harbour City Centre was in the old DIC building where my grandmother used to work...

After a stint in Europe and the US I returned armed with a contact list (this was pre-internet and before the age of faxes) and moved into the mailorder/ wholesale section whilst my mother took over my previous position running the Lambton Quay shop which only closed when the building was sold and everyone had to move.

These days my parents are well and truly retired however the mailorder service continues for your crafting projects and if you cannot locate something on the website then feel free to reach out as my contact list for those weird and wonderful items is regularly updated.
